'This is not just about money': DJ Chacha signs off as ABS-CBN retrenches employees due to franchise denial
MANILA, Philippines — My Only Radio (MOR) disc jockey (DJ) Chacha turned emotional as she bade goodbye to her "forever love," the radio station she worked with for 12 years.
In her Instagram account, DJ Chacha posted an artwork showing a little girl crying while hugging a lollipop that looks like the ABS-CBN logo.
"One of the lowest points of my life. I still can’t believe I have to say goodbye to my first love," she wrote.
"My forever love. My dream job. 12 years. This is not just work for me. This is not just about money. I LOVE THIS STATION SO MUCH," she added.
DJ Chacha admitted that she's really brokenhearted for the fate of the Kapamilya network.
"Really really really brokenhearted right now. Maswerte pa rin ako nandito ang asawa’t mga anak ko sa tabi ko to hug me. Sending hugs to all the Kapamilya Employees who are also experiencing the same pain that I’m going through now," she said.
She revealed in her Instagram stories today that apart from MOR, the TV network closed its regional shows and retrenched the shows' employees.
She added that she will leave everything to the Lord as she knows that He has a better plan.
"Lord, alam kong may mas maganda kang plano para sa aming lahat. Yakapin mo ang bawat isa sa aming lahat. Mahirap magpasaya ng nagdurugo ang puso pero kakayanin namin ito. We will give our best!" she said.
ABS-CBN said last Wednesday that they are laying off workers effective August 31.
"Last 45 days para magpasaya mga kaMORkada. Last 45 days to say 'MOR 101.9 my only Radio For Life!'” DJ Chacha said.
