Kyline puts debut on hold
MANILA, Philippines — Because of the pandemic, Kyline Alcantara might postpone her “Maleficent-inspired” debut in September and her 18th-birthday gift to herself, a vacation in Bali, Indonesia.
“It can wait until all of this is over,” she told The STAR in an e-mail interview. “Syempre we don’t want to take a risk hanggang wala pang vaccine. It’s better to stay indoors talaga unless you have important things to do like work.”
She can’t wait for the day when she can resume work on the TV adaptation of Bilangin ang Bituin sa Langit which also stars Nora Aunor and Mylene Dizon.
“We were about to tape some crucial scenes when the lockdown was imposed. I know that the GMA executives and the production people are now crafting the guidelines and protocols for the safety and security of the artists, plus the staff and crew. It is better to be safe,” Kyline said, adding that while she already misses acting, she’s thankful that she can showcase her craft in singing and dancing via the online edition of All-Out Sundays.
“Somehow kumportable naman po ako mag-perform online, but iba pa rin po kasi yung may audience na nagpa-participate at nakakahalubilo ninyo kasi nakakapagpa-hype pa rin yun ng performance namin. But, we don’t want to put them at risk and we need to abide sa guidelines na ini-implement so for now, virtual hugs po at high five muna kami with the audiences.”
Meantime, you can see Kyline in the rerun of Kambal, Karibal (KK) on GMA 7, the show that made her a star to be reckoned with.
“(I feel) nostalgic. Kambal, Karibal will always have a special place in my heart. Utang na loob ko sa KK kung ano man ang meron ako ngayon. Every moment I had on that show was the best for me.”
While on lockdown, Kyline grabbed the chance to learn new things like cooking, baking and playing the guitar.
“I realized na marami pa pala akong hindi alam sa buhay gaya ng pagluluto or learning a new talent like playing the guitar. Carpe diem! Seize the day and make the most out of it. I believe that life is wonderful and beautiful if you keep it the way God wants you to enjoy life.”
She also took advantage of her free time to visit her grandparents in Bicol before the ECQ (Enhanced Community Quarantine) was implemented.
