The groom cries, so does the bride
As in most weddings, it’s the groom who can’t hold back tears and the bride follows suit.
It happened when Cavite Vice Gov. Jolo Revilla and 2016 Bb. Pilipinas runner-up Angelica Alita were at a Christian ceremony officiated by Pastor Peter Kairuz (of 700 Club) at the Pelican Hill, Newport Beach, California, USA, last Sunday afternoon, Dec. 15.
It was Jolo, dapper in a Paul Cabral suit, who cried first while he watched Angelica, radiant also in Paul Cabral, walking slowly, being given away by her three brothers (her mom opted to remain in Mindoro), one of them Francis who is closest to Angelica.
Jolo’s mom, Bacoor City Mayor Lani Mercado, comforted Angelica, “Even if Mama 1 is not around, Mama 2 is here taking care of you.”
According to movie writer Gorgy Rula (a family friend), more tears were shed during their exchange of vows.
Jolo: You made me realize that I don’t need to become someone else and pretend to be someone else. Tanggap mo kung sino at kung ano ako. Not all angels are in heaven, mine is here on earth, standing now in front of me, making sure my life would feel I’m in heaven…forever. Basta kasama kita, saan man tayo pumunta, pakiramdam ko lagi along nasa langit…I promise to honor you, love you, take care of you and be with you for the rest of my life…
Angelica: There’s nothing not to love about you. I love how you manage to take care of millions of other people before yourself. You are the most caring father, son and brother to your family. I know Gab (Jolo’s son with a former girlfriend. — RFL) is a big part of your life and I promise to God to love and care for him as my own. Today, I vow to know myself as you and you as myself. I promise to dream, with you and be your biggest supporter, to encourage you and to stand by you from this day forward…Jolo, hindi ka na iiyak mag-isa. Kasama mo akong babangon at magpupunas ng iyong mga luha…
Only nine of the principal sponsors were present including Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio, former Sen. Jinggoy Estrada, Rep. Martin Romualdez, Cavite Gov. Jonvic Remulla, Pampanga Vice Gov. Lilia Pineda, and Jolo’s aunts Bacoor Councilor Rowena Bautista-Mendiola, Chaye Cabal-Revilla, Rebecca Bautista-Ocampo and former Antipolo City Mayor Junjun Ynares (husband of Antipolo City Mayor Andeng Bautista-Ynares).
The intimate wedding capped a romance that started to bloom last year and was revealed only last February.
Asked by Funfare two weeks before he and Angelica left for the US why he chose to make her his wife, Jolo said, “I did love and respect the other girls linked to me but when I saw Angelica, there’s something about her that made me realize that she’s The One. Sigurado ako.”
