MANILA, Philippines — Last Nov. 28, Gerry “Mr. Freeze” Santos, the president and chief executive officer of Mr. Freeze, visited kids of the Philippine Children’s Medical Center (PCMC) in Quezon City and brought a smile to their faces.
Together with his sister Pia Santos-Guzman, son Philip, daughter Janina Santos-Urtico, Mr. Freeze’s employees and the Jollibee Party Kids team, Mr. Freeze joined in the fun as they participated in the parlor games and helped out in the distribution of food and toys.
“It’s our second year with the kids of PCMC, pero marami pa kaming binibisitang ibang lugar para maghatid ng saya. We were hoping to bring a smile to kids’ faces pero iba ang nangyari, they were the ones who made us smile. Kita ko sa mga anak ko ang kasiyahan na nakakapag-pasaya sila ng mga batang may sakit,” shared Gerry.
The businessman started Mr. Freeze in 2005 with one ice plant. Now, the company is considered the largest manufacturer and distributor of tube ice in the country. He was recently awarded Influencer of the Year, a finalist for the Businessman of the Year award and a finalist for the Innovative Company of the Year recognition at the Asia Leaders Awards 2019 held at Shangri-La Makati.
“I grew up knowing every aspect of the ice business dahil ito ang business ng father ko, so nang ako na ang nagtayo ng sarili kong ice plant tinaas ko ang quality and service to my customers and dealers. My goal is not only to earn money, but also to bring livelihood to tricycle drivers hanggang sa mga kasambahay who want to increase their income sa pagiging distributors. Success is not just about what you have accomplished in life, it’s what you have inspired others to do,” ended Gerry.
Mr. Freeze will soon open its branch in Urdaneta, Pangasinan, with business partner Albert Martinez. Gerry also co-owns BLK513 and FRNK Milk Bar.
