Post Malone tops AMA nominations
It is American Music Awards (AMA) time once again and the nominations are in. Hip-hop star Post Malone of the tattooed face tops the line-up with seven nods. One of these is for the major plum, the Artist of the Year Award. He is up against biggies Drake, Ariana Grande, Halsey and Taylor Swift, who all have strong chances of bagging the trophy.
Now Swiftie could be in for a record-breaking evening on Sunday, Nov. 24, when the AMAs are held at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. She already has 23 trophies. If she wins two of her five nominations, then she will surpass the record 24 wins held by Michael Jackson.
The votes of the fans though are what decides who wins at the American Music Awards and it is a fact that the fans are so much in love with Post Malone right now. Every record he releases turns to Gold or several times Platinum. Just last week, his Hollywood’s Bleeding album returned to the No. 1 slot in the Hot 100 and his single Sunflower from Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse soundtrack has been a top seller for over a year. And this is not to mention the fact that everywhere I go, I hear kids singing his songs.
However, while Malone maybe this year’s big news at the AMA nominations, what really hit me in the gut was finding Maroon 5, Taylor and Pink in the Adult Contemporary category. Adult Contemporary! Didn’t they use to have the likes of Madonna and Tony Bennet in that section? Oh well, there is really no escaping the ravages of age.
