Aljur Abrenica speaks straight from the heart and with sincerity. He talks about life with wife Kylie Padilla with so much love and pride.
Kylie is seven months pregnant with their second child. Their eldest, Alas Joaquin, is now two years old.
On the hot seat of Tonight with Boy Abunda a couple of nights ago, Aljur didn’t deny that he expected their second baby to be a girl after having observed how Kylie would always want to look beautiful and maintain her weight during the first trimester of her pregnancy. She, too, would arrange their home from time to time.
“When she was pregnant with Alas, bargas s’ya kumilos, very masculine. That’s why, I really thought that it will be a girl but during the gender reveal, boy pala. Of course, I am happy whatever the gender (of the child) is.”
Another source of happiness for both Aljur and Kylie is the former’s latest drama series Sandugo. Aljur said that Kylie is doubly excited about his role and even told him that she also wishes to do the same kind of role in the future.
“I play Leo Balthazar who is on the bad side but eventually the televiewers will know the reason why as the soap progresses. I am thankful to ABS-CBN for this. In fact, kasing-edad ng unang anak ko when I had my first day in Ang Probinsyano so it’s already been two years since I first came here.”
His Sandugo co-star Ejay Falcon is one of his closest friends in the Kapamilya network. No wonder, Aljur just smiled upon learning that Ejay branded him as a chickboy. “I must say na mas chickboy si Ejay. Tahimik lang s'ya pero biglang nawawala tapos babalik at mawawala ulit, hahahaha!”
Kidding aside, Aljur said he and Ejay share many things in common “like we both like martial arts and fitness. Parehas din kaming probinsyano at parehas panganay although Ejay is the breadwinner of his family while I somehow help my dad.”
Asked who between them is richer, Aljur quipped, “Mayaman sa babae, s’ya ‘yun (laughs) at mas mabait ako.”
Indeed, Aljur has become mature when he started a family. He realized that being a dad is not simple. “All the dads out there know that being a father is not really easy because there’s always a pressure of, as they say, always thinking of providing for the family even if you have enough. Now, I understand what every father feels, especially my dad.”
He also thanked Kylie for all the love and support after reading the letter.
“We’ve been together for nine years and I saw your journey from man to father and man to husband. We both know that it’s not easy but you do your best, we do our best. Thank you for your patience, for your understanding…Thank you at niligawan mo ko ulit at hinabol noon,” part of the letter read.
Aljur and Kylie first became an item in 2011 but parted ways in 2014. They rekindled their romance two years after, and then tied the knot in 2018.
“Now, we have a family. And always remember that we are here for you. We love you. I love you,” Kylie added.
Aljur equally expressed his love for Kylie by telling how he appreciates her efforts to show her love every single day and he assured her that he will always try to be the best version of himself “para sa ‘yo, para sa sarili ko bilang asawa at bilang ama.”
