MANILA, Philippines — Kapamilya actor James Reid denied rumors that he will be transferring to GMA 7.
“No, it’s not,” he said smiling when asked by Philstar.com if the rumors were true.
When asked why he did not renew his contract with Viva Artists Agency, James said he will be focusing on other things now.
“I just didn’t renew. You know, I’m focusing on other things now,” he said.
He clarified that also contrary to reports, his dad is not his new manager. He manages his own career now.
"It's great but it's also scary," he said of his new endeavor as an independent artist.
He clarified that he is not giving up showbiz and still plans to do movies.
"I'm just waiting for the right project," enthused the actor, stressing that he has no upcoming TV series in the works.
James is busy with his own music label Careless Music Manila.
"I'm focusing on my music label right now. I wanna give it a chance, I wanna see how far I can go with my music and I have big plans for it."
Also part of the label is his girlfriend Nadine Lustre, who directed some of the label’s music videos.
When asked for Nadine's reaction on his newfound independence, James simply said: "You should ask her about that."
He assured that his personal and professional relationship with Nadine will not be affected by his decision to go independent.
"It has not been affected at all right now. We're still working together. We're all in good terms, which is great. I just have a bit more freedom now, that's all."
James has been recently launched as the first Filipino endorser of international timepiece brand Armitron, known for its diverse collection of affordable dress and digital watches.
Available nationwide at the SM Store, Robinsons and Metro Gaisano Department Stores, Armitron embodies style and functionality without breaking the bank, said James.
"So you can build your own collection of timepieces without guilt. Plus, its collections are wide and varied, so it makes it easy to find something that suits your day. Whatever personality or style, you’ll find a watch to match," he assured. — Videos by Deni Rose M. Afinidad-Bernardo, editing by Erwin Cagadas Jr.
