MANILA, Philippines — Actress KC Concepcion commented on the news that her mother, "Megastar" Sharon Cuneta, was considering “semi-retirement” from showbiz.
In an interview with Philstar.com following her launch as Shiseido's first Filipina ambassador, KC said she is happy with her mother’s decision because Sharon can now see “a whole new world.”
“I'm happy for her because it's been healthy to be able to accept that you can be happy in life 'di ba? Na 'yung parang you can go through different seasons in your life and I like it. It seems na she can see a whole new world na parang pwede niyang galawan as a woman,” KC said.
When asked on what she felt upon hearing the news, KC said she cannot believe it.
“Ang tanong ko lang sa kanya, 'Are you sure?' Yun palang ang natatanong ko sa kanya kasi ako hindi ako makapaniwala,” she said.
The Megastar revealed her plans of semi-retirement after her emotional parting with her daughter Frankie Pangilinan, who is pursuing her college degree in New York.
KC shared that she is also finishing her Gemology degree in New York to be with Frankie. The singer-actress has been taking up the course for her jewelry line.
It can be recalled that Sharon recently wrote on Instagram: "On another note, and this is important- Since last year l have seriously been thinking of semi-retiring. I am so very tired. It has been 41 years of work, work, work for me, and at some point, kailangan na rin sabihin sa sarili na 'tama na.' When will it ever be enough? Sometimes you just have to put your foot down and say it’s okay, and it’ll all be okay."
"Maybe I’ll do a concert here and there every once in a while, or a movie that I feel will really be worth the few months it’ll take me away from my home and family. Sinasabi ko na sa inyo ito, mga mahal kong Sharonians. Mahal na mahal ko kayo...pero pagod na rin si Mama...Di naman siguro ako biglang forever na mawawala...pero konting-konti na lang siguro ang kakayanin kong ibigay until magpahinga na ako at i-enjoy naman ang tinatawag na private life na alam ng karamihan pero tungkol saan kokonti lang ang alam ko...I know you will all understand," she added. — Video by Deni Bernardo
