MANILA, Philippines — Kapamilya actor Gerald Anderson’s mother, Evangeline Opsima, has given pieces of advice to her son’s “Between Maybes” co-star Julia Barretto.
Speaking with ABS-CBN News General Santos, Evangeline said she is not in favor of Julia becoming Gerald’s girlfriend.
"Julia, hindi ibig sabihin hindi kita gusto, bata ka sa anak ko. May edad si (Gerald). Baka lang ilang taon lang, wala na rin. O maybe three months, wala na kayo," Evangeline said.
Gerald’s mother, however, clarified that she is not saying that she does not want Julia for her son, but said they are in the same industry so they will not stay long as a couple.
"Hindi ko sinasabing ayaw kita, no, ang akin lang, ang advice ko lang sa'yo, please, ayoko kasi, may edad na rin si Gerald sa'yo. Hindi rin kayo magtatagal kasi alam ko, nasa industriya ka rin. Alam ko 'yung relasyon laro lang," Evangeline said.
Julia recently clarified that she and Gerald are not a couple and he is not courting her.
“Tapusin na lang natin ‘to. Let’s clear this whole issue, so we can put this whole issue to rest. Hindi ko siya naging boyfriend and hindi ko siya boyfriend ngayon. Therefore, wala akong inagawan ng boyfriend, wala akong inahas, at wala din akong nilandi,” Julia explained.
Gerald also cleared Julia’s name in the speculations that Julia was the reason behind his breakup with Bea Alonzo.
"Walang outside force, walang ibang tao ang naging dahilan ng breakup. Para sa akin, it's always been our personal issues, things that we... Things inside our relationship [that caused the breakup]," Gerald said.
