MANILA, Philippines — The winners of the 2019 Cinemalaya Philippine Independent Film Festival were announced Sunday, with the movie “John Denver Trending” taking home the bulk of awards.
“John Denver Trending” was named Best Film and also won the awards for Best Original Music Score, Best Editing and Best Cinematography. It also received the NETPAC Award for full length feature.
Jansen Magpusao—who played the title role in “John Denver Trending”—took home the Best Actor plum, while Ruby Ruiz was hailed Best Actress for her role in “Iska.”
Ricky Davao won the Best Supporting Actor award for “F#*@bois,” while Ella Cruz was named Best Supporting Actress for “John Denver Trending.”
