MANILA, Philippines — Former sexy actress Angelica Jones has clinched the top spot as board member in Laguna’s third district.
After losing in the vice gubernatorial race in the province last 2016, the so-called “Miss Flawless” was one of the candidates who have been proclaimed winners in Laguna, setting a comeback in her political career.
"Sa panahong ngayon, very wise na kasi ang mga tao, ang mga botante. Hindi na puwede idaan ito sa artista lang, or sa pera lang. Ang nakikita ko dito, 'pag hinahalal ka ng taumbayan, mahalin mo, at gumawa ka ng magagandang programa (Nowadays, voters have become wiser. It’s not enough that you’re just a celebrity or you just have money. What I see here now is if the people love you, love them back and do good programs)," Angelica told ABS-CBN News.
"Maraming Salamat po sa inyong lahat sa 3rd dist. Of Laguna. Dahil sa inyong pagmamahal at suporta sa 6 na bayan landslide po ako (Calauan, alaminos, Victoria, rizal, liliw at nagcarlan) at san pablo nanalo ako kaya naging NUM. 1 po ako bilang BOARDMEMBER 3rd dist. Of Laguna... God is good all the time," she shared in her Facebook page on Wednesday, together with a video of her proclamation in Comelec Sta. Cruz Laguna.
Before losing in the 2016 elections, Angelica served as a board member in Laguna for three terms, leaving behind her showbiz career.
The happy single mom, as she describes herself on her Instagram account, also served as the spokesperson of Kabayan Party-list and as personal consultant of Sen. Manny Pacquiao before running again as a board member.
“Bilang isang ina at Solo Parent... Ramdam ko kung gaano kahirap ang maging ama at ina ng isang anak. Pero sa twing nakikita ko si angelo anak ko.. Mas lalo ako nagiging matatag at mabuting ina para sa aking anak,” she said in a post last Mother’s Day.
Angelica rose to fame as a sexy comedienne in her showbiz days. Her films include “Mr. Suave,” “Lagot Ka Sa Kuya Ko,” and “Enteng Kabisote 3: Okay Ka, Fairy Ko: The Legend Goes On and On and On.” She was also a host in the now defunct Kapamilya noontime show “Magandang Tanghali Bayan.”
