Matteo Guidicelli shares Sarah Geronimo’s reaction over his army enlistment
MANILA, Philippines — Kapamilya actor Matteo Guidicelli revealed the reaction of his parents and girlfriend Sarah Geronimo upon learning that he joined the Armed Forces of the Philippines as a reservist.
In his speech during the recent closing ceremony of the National Cadet Corps of the Philippines Summer Encampment Training under the Junior High School Commandants Association of the Philippines, Matteo said he was asked by his parents and Sarah why he decided to join.
"Yung girlfriend ko, ‘yung mga magulang ko, sabi nila ‘Bakit ka sasali ng Army? Mag-gi-giyera ka ba?” Matteo said.
“Ngayon, they understood na kapag nasa reserve ka or nasa Army ka, hindi naman ibig sabihin mag-gi-giyera ka, marami kang mga pwedeng gawin,” he added.
Matteo earlier said that he joined the Army because he is a Filipino and he loves his country.
“I officially joined the Philippine Army today because I love my country. I would like to thank the people that have been very supportive. Exciting times ahead,” Matteo said.
According to the ARESCOM Facebook page, the Army Reserve Command is a unit whose primary mission is to recruit, motivate, administer, train and equip reservists in the Armed Forces of the Philippines. The unit is open to all Filipino citizens who are willing to serve the country in the most noble way as members of the reserve component of the AFP.
