‘Nailed it’: Nadine Lustre earns praises for shouting ‘Darna’

MANILA, Philippines — Kapamilya actress Nadine Lustre has been lauded by fans after a video of her shouting “Darna” went viral on Tuesday night.

The video shows Nadine asking fellow Viva Artist Donnalyn Bartolome for the stone that transforms the plain Jane Narda into the superhero Darna.

“Ding, ang bato!” Nadine told Donnalyn, who pretended to be Darna’s sidekick in the video posted in Donnalyn’s YouTube channel.

Donnalyn then seemingly handed a magical stone to Nadine, who then swallowed it and shouted “Darna!”

An animated lightning then appeared, then Darna's headgear appeared on Nadine’s head, followed by an excerpt from Kamikazee's hit "Narda" song, the soundtrack of Angel Locsin's "Darna" TV series in GMA.

Nadine’s fans celebrate the video, with almost 12,000 retweets and over 45,000 likes on Twitter.

According to Nadine, she is open to portraying the iconic Darna role even though she is only the third choice. 

In a report by ABS-CBN, Nadine said she does not think it is bad to be a third choice. 

"I mean, you know, puwede rin namang it's not the right time or it's not the right project for them, so I don't think it matters,” singer-actress said. 

She also reiterated her earlier statement during previous interviews that the role could be given to anybody as long as it would give justice to the role. 

“It's nice, it's a good opportunity, it's a good project, so who's not open for it?" Nadine said.

"I mean, if it's meant for me, sa akin po ibibigay. But like what I've said before, I know that the project is going to be given to someone who can give justice to the role.

It does not have to be me, as long as mabigyan ng justice. I know naman that everyone is going to pick the right one,” she added.

The project’s former director Erik Matti said earlier that Nadine is her choice to replace Liza Soberano, but Star Cinema and new director Jerrold Tarog will have the final say. 

"After her (Soberano), I only see Nadine Lustre so far as someone who can be Darna. Very sultry. She has a lot of female sensuality and at the same time still looks tough and very Filipina," Erik told The STAR’s Ricky Lo.
