WATCH: Catriona Gray gives update on broken Miss Universe crown

MANILA, Philippines — Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray recently took a time off her spokesperson and charity duties to grace the launch of Jollibee Jolly Twirl, an ice cream brand she endorses in the Philippines.

In an interview with Philstar.com following the launch, Catriona revealed the whereabouts of her P13-million Mikimoto crown, which got broken during a parade.

Catriona did not wear her Miss Universe crown during the launch.

“It’s in the hands of the masters and it will be back very soon,” she assured.

Reports said the crown has 500 diamonds of almost 30 carats (6.0 g), 120 South Sea and Akoya pearls, ranging in size from 3 to 18 mm diameter, and is valued at $250,000 or an estimated P13 million.

“So one of the things I love about the parade is that they have this moving band and they have the drums that makes me want to dance, so I end up dancing although I am not a very good dancer,” Catriona narrated on how the crown broke.

“But I have a confession. The Mikimoto has seen better days as a result of my dancing. I'm so sorry,” she said while holding the broken piece of the crown.

Social media users first noticed that there is something wrong with Catriona’s crown when she had her homecoming parade in Araneta Center last February and during her trip to Indonesia last March. — Video by Erwin Cagadas Jr.
