Pia Wurtzbach unveils her Madame Tussauds wax figure
MANILA, Philippines — Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach on Thursday led the unveiling of her own wax figure which would be exhibited in Madame Tussauds in Hong Kong.
In a press conference held at EDSA Shangrila, Pia — the first Filipino to have a wax figure in the famed museum — quipped that she is forever immortalized.
“I [will] never gonna get old na,” Pia said.
“I’m so happy. As a beauty queen, I know my face and I know my angles. I can say na ako talaga siya . It’s me. It feels surreal.”
Before heading to Hong Kong, the wax figure will be shown in the #PiaMAdeIconic Travel Festival on March 29 at the SM Mega Fashion Hall.
“It looks so real and I can’t wait for everyone to see it in person. Mas ma-appreciate mo siya pag nakita mo siya sa personal. Naiiyak ako kanina noong ni-reveal. Parang winning moment uli. Sobrang happy ako,” she said.
Pia’s wax figure wears a replica of the iconic Swarovski-embellished royal blue ball gown by Filipino designer Michael Cinco which she wore when she passed the crown in 2016.
“This is the blue Michael Cinco gown that I wore when I passed my crown during the 2016 coronation night. Actually, the gown daw is heavier than the wax figure. I would like to thank Michael Cinco for being so generous na he really made another gown,” Pia said.
For the wax figure’s pose and attire, Pia said Madame Tussauds personally chose them so that museum visitors can have a more interactive experience.
“Yung Madame Tussauds yung namili ng pose, gown at ‘nung moment. Actually wala rin akong maisip na better pose kasi very interactive siya for everyone who [is] gonna see her. You will be crowned as Miss Universe, diba?” she said.
Pia’s wax figure will join some of the world’s biggest icons including Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie, Bruce Lee, Jackie Chan, Lady Gaga, Freddie Mercury, Michael Jackson and The Beatles to name a few.
