Kathryn Bernardo, Daniel Padilla film now highest-grossing Filipino movie     

MANILA, Philippines — On- and off-screen partners Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla won big at the recently concluded 50th Box Office Entertainment Awards of the Guillermo Mendoza Memorial Scholarship Foundation.

The Kapamilya love team received the Golden Jury Award for their blockbuster movie “The Hows of Us,” which earned a total of P915 million, becoming the highest-grossing Filipino movie of all time.

KathNiel was also hailed as Phenomenal Stars of Philippine Cinema.

In her acceptance speech, Kathryn thanked the award-giving body for appreciating their work. She also thanked their fans for their never-ending support.

“Maraming maraming salamat, Guillermo Mendoza Foundation, para sa recognition na binigay niyo sa amin ni DJ. Malapit na akong mag-birthday and madaming magagandang bagay na nangyari in the last few days and isa na ito. Maraming salamat Guillermo Foundation para sa maagang pa-birthday gift niyo para sa akin,” Kathryn said. 

“Ang dami-dami namin ni DJ pasalamatan dahil ang daming tumulong para makarating kami kung nasan man kami ngayon. Gusto ko po munang unahin ‘yung mga supporters namin. Kahit ang daming pagsubok na pinagdaanan natin, pero nandyan parin kayo para sa amin. The best kayo,” she added. 

She also thanked director Cathy Garcia-Molina and Olivia Lamasan for pushing them for greatness.

“Ang laking bagay ng 'The Hows of Us' para sa amin ni DJ, so gusto kong i-share ang award na ito sa aming director Cathy Garcia-Molina, sa aming inang Olivia Lamasan. Sila ‘yung nag-push sa amin para gawin ‘yung project na ‘to. Parati nila kaming china-challenge,” Kathryn said.  

“Gusto ko pong magpasalamat sa bumubuo ng Guillermo Mendoza Awards. Gusto kong magpasalamat sa mga KathNiels. Maraming salamat sa mahabang panahon na pagsuporta sa amin ni Kathryn, sa pakikipaglaban para sa amin,” Daniel said. 

In an ambush interview with the media, the couple could not hide their gratitude for the award-giving body for making a special award for them.

“Grabe ‘yung pasasalamat. Hindi lang sa binigay nila kasi gumawa pa sila ng special award to honor 'The Hows of Us,' siyempre na-appreciate namin,” Kathryn said.  

“Ang award na 'to ay hindi lang sa amin kung hindi in behalf para sa aming pamilya, pamilya namin sa industriya, at siyempre sa mga supporters. Sa aming lahat ito. Thank you very much, guys," Daniel added.
