Maine Mendoza hailed as Box Office Queen

MANILA, Philippines — Kapuso actress Maine Mendoza was awarded as the country’s Box Office Queen for the movie “Jack Em Popoy: The Pulis Credibles” in the recently concluded 50th Box Office Entertainment Awards of the Guillermo Mendoza Memorial Scholarship Foundation. 

In her acceptance speech, Maine thanked God, producers, co-actors, staff and fans for their support. 

“Magandang gabi po sa lahat ng nandito ngayon. Hindi ko na po papahabain pa ang aking acceptance speech. Nagpapasalamat po ako unang-una sa Panginoon sa lahat ng biyayang pinagkaloob niyo sa akin at patuloy na pinagkakaloob, kabilang po ito,” Maine said. 

“Sa Guillermo Mendoza Foundation, sa parangal na ito at hindi magkakaroon ng ganito kung walang ‘Jack Em Popoy: The Pulis Credibles,’ kaya higit akong nagpapasalamat sa lahat ng naging parte sa pagbuo ng ‘Jack Em Popoy.’ Sa aming producers, sila Mr. Tuviera, Bossing Vic Sotto, Coco Martin, at sa lahat ng nanood at sumoporta nong Kapaskuhan pati na rin sa mga nagpa-block screening. Thank you po sa inyo. Sana naging extra merry ang inyong Christmas. Sana po suportahan parin natin ang pelikulang Pilipino,” she added.

Maine’s co-actors, Vic and Coco, were awarded as Box Office Kings of the year. Their Metro Manila Film Fest movie was the third-highest grossing movie of 2018. The stars of their MMFF rival “Fantastica,” Vice Ganda, Dingdong Dantes and Richard Guttierez, were awarded Phenomenal Stars of Philippine Cinema. 

Meanwhile, Guillermo Mendoza Foundation jurors decided to give the Golden Jury Award to Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla for “The Hows of Us” as the highest-grossing movie of all time.
