Daniel Radcliffe: I’ve been happier since ‘Harry Potter’
MANILA, Philippines — British actor Daniel Radcliffe was only 11 when he was cast in the first “Harry Potter” film, “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone.”
Now turning 30 this year, Daniel has seen himself grow “a bit more” since “Harry Potter.”
“I’m in a happier place than I was a few years ago, and yeah, everything has been pretty good,” he told Philstar.com in an exclusive phone interview when asked how life has been since he starred in the JK Rowling-penned movie saga.
“If you told me 10 years ago, when ‘Harry Potter’ was finishing in 10 years (that) I will still be working and take on different, kinda interesting projects, I would have been very, very happy. So I think, life has got… As I’ve grown up, I’ve learned to deal with being in the film industry and I sort of think I’ve got better in that.”
Similarly, Daniel thinks he now looks better without his round Potter glasses on.
"I see myself without them all the time, so I’m inclined to say that I prefer myself without them, but I also don’t mind wearing them for a few roles now… But in my normal life, I don’t wear glasses,” he enthused.
Radcliffe now stars in the new romantic comedy “Miracle Workers,” a seven-episode limited series that aims to “turn the perception of heaven on its head while also making the case that humans are worth saving.”
Available in the Philippines through Warner TV on Sky Cable channel 34 and Cignal channel 235, “Miracle Workers” follows the story of Daniel as Craig, a low-level angel responsible for handling all of humanity's prayers. Steve Buscemi plays Craig's boss, God, who has pretty much checked out to focus on petty hobbies.
To prevent Earth's destruction, Craig and fellow angel Eliza (Geraldine Viswanathan) must answer a seemingly impossible prayer: help two humans, Laura and Sam (played by Sasha Compere and Jon Bass), fall in love.
If he were to choose between becoming a wizard or an angel, Daniel said: “I would say probably wizard, because being an angel for sort of immortality scares me a little bit, the idea of eternity. So I think, having amazing magical talent for a finite amount of time would be the ideal.”
