Veteran actress Armida Siguion-Reyna dies at the age of 88.

MANILA, Philippines — Veteran actress Armida Siguion-Reyna died at the age of 88 on Monday. 

According to a News 5 report, she succumbed to cancer. 

Aside from decades of experience in film, Siguion-Reyna also performed leading roles in musical theatre and in "zarzuelas." 

From 1998 to 2001, she headed the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board. 

Her husband, Leonardo Siguion-Reyna, died in 2010 of a heart attack. 

She is the mother of actor and director Carlos Siguion-Reyna, Monique Siguion-Reyna Villonco and Leonardo Siguion-Reyna Jr. 

Also surviving Siguion-Reyna is her half brother ex-Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile, 94, who is running for Senate again in 2019.
