Catriona Gray feels ‘at home’ after meeting Filipinos in New York
MANILA, Philippines— Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray on Tuesday (Manila time) felt like she took a trip back to the Philippines after meeting the Filipino-American community in New York City.
“It is such a pleasure to see you all here. Thank you all for so much coming out and taking time out of your day,” Gray said during her meet and greet with Filipinos in the city.
“As I said earlier in the room next door, it makes me feel like I've taken a little bit of a trip home to the Philippines. Seeing all of your faces so many kababayans dito— Thank you so much po for being here,” she added.
Gray received a warm welcome at the Philippine Center in New York City. The event was facilitated by the Philippine Consulate.
During the meet and greet session, Gray wore a full hand-embroidered modern Filipiniana and Victorian inspired barong designed by Orias Classics.
She told the Filipino members of the press and the community that she is set to return to the Philippines “in time for Valentine’s Day.”
The 25-year-old beauty queen once again expressed her Filipino pride.
“It brings me so much pride to be able to bring pride to my country of the Philippines,” Gray said.
“Being Miss Universe, I really reflect on all of the people, all of the Filipino people, who have carried me along for support, always being there through every trial and journey ever since a couple of years now,” she added.
Gray who is currently residing in New York City as part of her Miss Universe duties, will have a grand homecoming on February 21 and 23 in Metro Manila.
