Liza, Enrique share they took risks in emotional new film
MANILA, Philippines — Kapamilya love team Liza Soberano and Enrique Gil revealed that their upcoming movie “Alone/Together” is more than just the usual romantic comedy movies they’ve done in the past because it has more depth and deals with heavy emotions.
At a press conference held in Quezon City on Tuesday, the love team popularly known as LizQuen said they are proud of their new movie.
“What makes me proud of this film is the risk we took upon agreeing that we’re doing it. It’s completely different from anything else we’ve ever done," Liza said.
"Lahat naman ng story iba-iba pero ito talaga, it’s not something we're used to doing kasi sanay kami sa mga romantic comedies, something a bit lighter that doesn’t deal with emotions as heavy as that Raf and Tin are portraying,” she added.
For his part, Enrique said they agreed to do the film because they were hooked upon reading the script.
Given his blockbuster movies with Liza in the past, Enrique said he doesn’t feel as much pressure now, but he is nervous about how people will embrace their new film.
“I really don’t feel pressured as much. Siyempre nervous na sana magustuhan ng tao. Ayun naman talaga gusto namin. Sana ma-enjoy nila yung movie, maintindihan nila, they really take something home after they watched it. That really matters. Kahit kumita siya o hindi, we did a really beautiful film,” he said.
Unlike her partner, Liza admitted that she feels pressured because people pay with their hard-earned money to watch a movie and she doesn’t want to disappoint them.
“I do feel the pressure right now. Like each and everytime naman na gumagawa ako ng pelikula, nape-pressure talaga ko kasi alam ko naman na people have to pay to watch movies and of course gusto ko nasusulit nila yung bayad nila 'pag nanonood sila,” she said.
“Lahat naman kami 'pag gumagawa kami ng isang pelikula, we always do our best. Pero siyempre bawat tao ay may iba't ibang opinion at hindi naman maiiwasang isipin yung mga opinyon nila so I do feel the pressure,” Liza added.
Directed by Antoinette Jadaone under Black Sheep productions, “Alone/Together” will be shown in cinemas nationwide on February 13.
