Catriona Gray to return to Philippines Wednesday
BANGKOK, Thailand — Two days after she was named Miss Universe 2018, Catriona Gray is set to return home on Wednesday, this time with a crown.
Catriona’s official schedule has not yet been released yet but she is reportedly set to arrive to the Philippines on Wednesday afternoon.
The fourth Filipina Miss Universe will spend Christmas in the Philippines with her family and also to celebrate her pageant victory.
She is expected to be given a grand homecoming.
According to her gown designer Mak Tumang, Catriona will wear something nationalistic for her homecoming, citing that she really is “proud of her roots.”
“For the Christmas tree lighting she wants something colorful and or the home coming, something Filipiniana art,” Mak said in an interview with TV5.
Catriona is slated to travel to New York in January 2019 to fulfill her duties as the 67th Miss Universe. She will reside in a luxurious apartment paid for by the pageant organization during her reign.
Once she relocates to New York City, Catriona will meet her new Miss Universe family and will be given a platform based on her objectives for the year. She will also receive a year-long salary.
“Alongside The Miss Universe Organization, she will plan how to achieve her goals on the national and global scale,” the Miss Universe Organization said.
