MANILA, Philippines — Miss Universe Philippines 2018 Catriona Gray has confirmed that there are changes in the format of this year’s Miss Universe coronation night to be held in Bangkok, Thailand on December 17.
On her Instagram account, Catriona said in a live video that they were told about the changes from past Miss Universe pageants.
“There is no live voting this year as in previous years,” Catriona shared.
In the past edition of the pageant, public votes helped a candidate to make it to the top 12.
Catriona added that unlike last year that the first cut was the top 16, it will become top 20 for this edition.
“The top 20 will go straight to an opening statement, which means a 15-second statement, and then the judges will cut down to 10,” Gray continued.
The top 10 will then compete in the evening gown and swimsuit rounds, and five of them will be chosen as finalists.
“The top 5 will do Q&A, then the Top 3 will do final word and final look, and then coronation,” Catriona shared.
If successful, Catriona would become the fourth Filipina to take home the Miss Universe crown.
