MANILA, Philippines — If you are a ‘90s kid, you probably heard that The Moffatts died in a plane crash back in the 2000s after they released the hit song “If Life is So Short.”

With limited Internet back then, the news spread like wildfire, without confirmation if it was true, leaving many high school kids in shock.

A decade after, fans of boyband thought the news came in as the boy group suddenly disappeared in the limelight because of what went on with their lives.

Nonetheless, in a recent press conference in Manila for their reunion concert to be held in New Frontier Theater on November 30, the group’s members, brothers Dave, Scott, Clint and Bob, looked back on that fake news.

“When we came to the Philippines on our last Southeast Asia tour, we hear that people taught that we died in a plane crash because they just didn’t hear anything about Moffatts,” Dave said.

Scott said that incident made them to visit the Philippines more to properly said goodbye to their fans. But now, instead of closing the door, it opened once again.

“Well, that’s actually one of the reasons we did the last tour because it did like looking back. We felt, ‘Wow we never thought about this.’ We went on with our lives. But we never consider everyone else over here were so into our music. And all of a sudden we weren’t going over here anymore. We have nothing social media or anything,” Scott said.

“So, one of the things that’s driving me is at least to come back here at least, to say goodbye or do something right. Because I thought it was about weird just taking off like that and not saying goodbye properly and closing the book. And now it’s open again, which is pretty sweet. So instead of closing the book, we’ve open a new one, which is pretty awesome,” he added.

Clint revealed that the song “If Live is So Short” was his least favorite song of the band, but since Filipinos loves the song, it is now his favorite song.

“Back in the ‘90s, that was my least favorite song in the record, to be honest. But since I’ve been over here, it’s been my favorite song. I love the meaning of that song. I love the fact that it is timeless to people,” Clint said.
