HOLLYWOOD — Hollywood actor Mark Wahlberg revealed that a Filipino book structured his daily prayers.
In an interview with Relevant Magazine, the devout Catholic discussed his everyday prayer routine, which is arranged according to “365 Days with the Lord,” a bible diary published by a Filipino apostolate of the priests and brothers of the Society of St. Paul.
The book’s mission is to “announce the Gospel to the world through the modern means of communication.”
According to the actor’s wife, model Rhea Durham, Mark loves the book so much that he asked her to buy him another copy for Christmas. Since then, she gave the book as a gift to her husband every Christmas.
“She knows that’s the one thing that I have to have before the end of the year to be able to start fresh on the first day of the year and not miss a day,” the actor said.
“For more than a decade already, this has become the most widely read bible diary, popular among Filipino Catholics here and abroad,” the description of the book reads.
Mark rises at 2:30 am every day and prays for 15 minutes every 2:45 am.
Known for his roles in critically-acclaimed movies like “The Other Guys,” “Daddy’s Home,” “Ted,” and the “Transformers,” Mark has been nominated in the Oscars as Best Supporting Actor for “The Departed,” and as Best Actor at the Golden Globes for “The Fighter.”
He served as executive producer for four HBO series, including “Entourage,” “Boardwalk Empire,” “How to Make It in America,” and “Ballers.”
He received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2010.
