WATCH: Catriona Gray samples ‘Lava walk’ for Miss Universe 2018

MANILA, Philippines — Philippine bet to Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Elisa Gray has already showcased her signature walk for the much anticipated pageant.

In a video posted by stylist Patrick Henry Mergano Carlos on his Instagram story, the Bicolana beauty gave a glimpse of her signature walk for Miss Universe 2018, aptly named “lava walk.”

“Glide, sway, pivot, erupt like a molten rock,” the Instagram story’s caption read.

Mergano also described the Australian-Filipina candidate as “magayon” and “Bicolana” and "Filipina.” In Bicolano, “magayon” means “beautiful.”

The Instagram story was also posted by choreographer Carlos Buendia Jr.

According to pageant enthusiasts including Pageanthology 101, “lava walk” will be Gray’s signature walk for her upcoming beauty competition.

Lava walk follows the signature walks of former Miss Universe beauties such as Miss Universe 2010 4th runner-up Venus Raj and her “Pilapil walk,” Miss Universe 2011 3rd runner-up Shamcey Supsup’s “Tsunami walk.”

Former beauty queens Miss Universe 2012 1st runner-up Janine Tugonon also had her “Cobra walk,” Miss Universe 2013 3rd runner-up Ariella Arrida’s “Arriba walk,” and Miss Universe Philippines 2014 Mary Jean Lastimosa’s “Camel walk.”

Gray’s recent successors Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach was known for her “Tanim-bala walk,” Miss Universe Philippines 2016 Maxine Medina had “Alta walk,” and Miss Universe Philippines 2017 Rachel Peters did her “Infinity Walk.”

In July this year, Gray also sampled her signature walk at ABS-CBN’s “Magandang Buhay.” Gray then said she does not know yet what her signature will be called.

“’Yung major important aspect lang sa mga catwalk is really the posture and then the face and then hips…and the posture's easy it's parang invisible string lang,” Gray said in July.

“When you walk, you’re giving an aura,” the Filipina beauty said as she turned on stage in a slow motion while showing off her ear cuffs.

Gray is not new to the catwalk as she previously competed in Miss World 2016 where she landed in the pageant’s top 5.

In September, Gray also walked at the New York Fashion Week runway in her Sherri Hill gown.

Gray is set to compete with 94 other beauties in the 2018 edition of Miss Universe which will be held in Bangkok, Thailand on December 17.
