Gary Valenciano reacts to Regine Velasquez’s transfer, ‘ASAP in Sydney’ tour
MANILA, Philippines — Kapamilya singer Gary Valenciano revealed that he was stunned upon learning that “Asia’s Songbird” Regine Velasquez has come back to ABS-CBN.
“Oh my gosh! That’s all I can say,” “Mr. Pure Energy” told Philstar.com following the launch of Ayala Mall’s “Awit at Laro” project that celebrates culture and music.
The veteran singer also shared that Regine was welcomed warmly by thousands of fans during their “ASAP” in Sydney tour.
“It was a very emotional time when Regine stepped up on the stage in Sydney. There are places kasi na pinupuntahan namin where the audience is so sabik na sabik, so gigil na gigil, many times they just screamed,” he said.
“But in Sydney, for some reason, they were listening to everything we said. So when Regine came out, talagang ‘yung tao ganun din pero talagang ‘wow’,” he added.
Though they had done numerous concerts together, Gary V said this is the first time that they will be doing televised production numbers.
“Bumalik siya sa ABS, Kapamilya siya uli, Ogie’s with her, it’s the first time na makakapagtrabaho kami ni Regine. We’ve been singing together, but it’s never televised. Kasi sa ABS ako, GMA siya eh. Ayon, kaya lumapit siya sa akin, ‘Gary excited na ‘ko sa mga production numbers na gagawin natin. Finally!’ I said, yes, finally,” Gary V said.
Having Regine in the Kapamilya network’s Sunday noontime variety show, Gary V said, will have so much impact on the show.
“She had so much of an impact even on the heads of ABS-CBN. Some of them got so very emotional kasi parang ‘ASAP’ kasi andun na e. Actually wala na talagang kailangan e. But when you put a Regine Velasquez, nagbukas bigla ‘yung mga ideas, mga possibilities that we would be working on as soon as November hits,” he declared.
