MANILA, Philippines — Singer-actress Lea Salonga recently gave an update on her upcoming first independent film, “Yellow Rose.”
“All filming is already finished, which is why it was so nice to announce it because it’s like ‘I’m done shooting I can announce it’ it’s happening and I’m not sure what the release date or its final release plan are going to be, but it is a Filipino-American story,” Lea said during the press conference of her sold-out 40th anniversary concert to be held at the PICC Plenary Hall on October 19 to 20.
Eva Noblezada, the Filipina actress who is also in the revival production of “Miss Saigon,” will play the lead in the movie.
Also in the movie is Princess Punzalan, who will play the mother of Eva. Lea, meanwhile, will play Princess’ sister.
“So, I’m Eva’s aunt. So, I’m the kind of person she ends up going to when things fall apart for the two of them,” Lea said.
Lea admitted that though her participation in the movie is not that big, she feels nervous because it has been a while since she did a movie.
“I’m like I had no idea how I’m gonna do or if I still actually act on a film because action in theater, acting for film are two different monsters. I’m not gonna claim to be the best movie actor; I’m just not and I’m kinda told by the director what to do. Thankfully, the director of that film, Diane Paragas, was exactly that,” she said. — Video by Kat Leandicho
