WATCH: A1 gives taste of Philippine reunion concert

MANILA, Philippines — Members of British-Norwegian boy band A1 are now back together for their 20th Anniversary Reunion Tour that will start in the Philippines on October 21 and 22 at the New Frontier Theater. 

In a press conference held in Novotel Hotel in Quezon City, Ben Adams, Mark Read, Paul Marazzi and Christian Ingebrigtsen of A1 said they are all excited to perform for their Filipino fans.

“It’s so great to be back in the Philippines. It’s one of those countries that we always have a special relationship with,” Ben said.

Known for their hit songs “Everytime,” “Like A Rose,” and “Heaven By Your Side,” among others, the boy band also gave a glimpse on what to expect on their concert as they sang their first single in 16 years. Filipino fans, they said, will be among the first ones to hear their new song, “Armour,” live.

Christian described their songwriting skills as “a gift of life” as it came natural to them. 

“We didn’t over-think it or over-analyze lyrics. I think the secret is all four of us are given gifts of life and that melody is just dumped in our heads and we record it in order to remember them,” he said.

Mark opened up about their first rehearsal together after Paul left the band in 2002. He said they still all remember their harmonies.

“When we first go back together to rehearse, we realize it was just being back together the first time again because we all remember our harmony. It’s just like the first time that we wrote a song together. In fact we even tried something new. We sang the very first a cappella that we sang together when we first got together as a band. It sounded just as good. So in this concert, expect all your favorites and dancing as well,” Mark said.

The band will also perform in Cebu and Davao after the two-night performance in Manila.
