Kris Aquino not running in 2019 Senate polls
MANILA, Philippines — The queen of all media Kris Aquino has dismissed speculations that she would pursue a senatorial bid in the 2019 elections.
In a lengthy Instagram post, Aquino announced that she would not seek any national elective post in 2019.
“Direcho na – alam kong pumalpak ako in the past sa personal life so bumabawi ako ng bongga sa trabaho ko at sa pagsusumikap na maging mabuting ina. Because of this ALLOW ME TO FIRMLY SAY THAT I WON’T SEEK ANY NATIONAL ELECTIVE POST IN 2019,” Aquino wrote, emphasizing her statement.
“I am the only parent providing for the financial and emotional well being of Kuya Josh who has special needs, and Bimb who is only 11 years old. HINDI PO AKO TATAKBO PARA SA SENADO IN 2019,” she added.
Aquino made the post amid her inclusion in the results of the latest senatorial survey of Pulse Asia, conducted from September 1 to 7.
In the survey, Kris was behind her cousin and re-electionist Sen. Benigno Paolo “Bam” Aquino IV. They ranked 19 to 23 and 18 to 23, respectively.

Kris also cited that her inclusion is unfair to her cousin.
“From the start i have OPENLY stated that several multinational & Philippine conglomerate contracts prevent me from any divisive political participation, comments, or posts except when defending the honor of self, immediate family-meaning the memories of my parents, my siblings, and my sons.”
“It is unfair to my cousin @bamaquino that in this Pulse Asia poll an Aquino who has stated many times that SHE won’t run for the Senate in 2019 had to be included,” Kris said.
Meanwhile, Bam attributed his low rank in the poll, saying the inclusion of two Aquinos divided opposition votes.
Last month, Kris also hinted she is not running for any public office including the mayoral post in Quezon City citing that she has a two-year contract that requires no political clause.
