MANILA, Philippines — “Your Face Sounds Familiar Kids” grand champions Francis Concepcion, Mackie Empuerto, and Kiefer Sanchez, also collectively known as TNT (“Tawag Ng Tanghalan”) Boys, said they have no problem wearing girls’ dresses because it was all part of “Your Face Sounds Familiar Kids,” where they were recently hailed as grand champions.
In a recent interview with Philstar.com, the TNT Boys said they believe that cross-dressing in the contest was only a challenge for them so they can perform well.
“Hindi po mahirap magdamit babae kasi po ‘yun ang binigay sa amin na icon so china-challenge lang po namin ‘yung sarili namin na magdamit babae,” Kiefer said.
“Pinag-aaralan po talaga namin ‘yung mga binibigay sa aming icon. ‘Yung mga pambabaeng damit po na isinusuot sa amin, okay lang naman po,” Mackie added.
Francis admitted that sometimes, it was hard for him to cross-dress because the costumes do not fit him.
“Minsan po nasisikipan, pero no big deal. ‘Pag nagpa-fat suit, minsan po mainit,” Francis said.
The trio is now P1 million richer after winning the competition for impersonating Jessie J, Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj’s hit collaboration song “Bang Bang” in their final performance.
The kids said they will save their money for school tuition and also use some to help their families.
Though the boys have appeared as guests in international TV shows like “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” and Steve Harvey’s “Little Big Shots,” they assured that global stardom has not changed them a bit, and they will continue pursuing their dreams and representing the Philippines with humility and pride. — Reports from Deni Rose M.
