WATCH: Direk Cathy on John Lloyd Cruz's comeback
MANILA, Philippines — Blockbuster film director Cathy Garcia-Molina hopes her last film will be with award-winning actor John Lloyd Cruz.
Speaking with the media during the recent “The Hows of Us” press conference, Direk Cathy admitted that she did not know if John Lloyd is ready to make a comeback onscreen, but she is hoping to do a movie with the actor before she takes a break from showbiz.
“After ‘Hows of Us,’ may three film pa to do. ‘Yung kay Sharon (Cuneta), Richard (Gomez) at Kathryn (Bernardo), ‘yung isa pinangako ko for Piolo, ‘yung isa ang hindi ko pa alam. Of course I’m hoping na I’ll do it with John Lloyd, but I don’t know if he’s ready,” Direk Cathy said.
In an interview with Philstar.com, the blockbuster director said she is happy for her friend John Lloyd and she does not want to force him out of his hiatus.
“Right now, all I know, John Lloyd is living a happy life. Ba’t naman natin tatanggalin sa tao ‘yung pagiging happy? Ako rin naman pupunta sa happy life, ‘di ba? I also want that peaceful happy life, so who am I to take it away from him? Ako I always respect his decision kung san siya masaya, e ‘di dun,” she said.
She is confident that JLC will not leave showbiz for good.
“Siguro kailangan lang niya magpahinga, parang ako. Hindi ko naman totally iiwan ang industriya, magpapahinga lang muna. Si John Lloyd parang parte na natin ‘yan eh. Nandyan lang yan,” she assured.
For Direk Cathy, John Lloyd remains to be the best actor of this generation. She described him as “wala pang kapantay.”
“I miss him so much, I miss him as a friend, but I am very happy na happy siya.”
Direk Cathy directed almost all of John Lloyd’s movies, including “A Very Special Love,” “You Changed My Life,” “It Takes a Man and a Woman,” “Finally Found Someone,” and “One More Chance,” to name a few.
While JLC is on leave, for Direk Cathy, “Daniel (Padilla) is the John Lloyd of my life.”
