WATCH: Diego Loyzaga clears name after criticized for cutting tree
MANILA, Philippines — Kapamilya actor Diego Loyzaga cleared his name after netizens criticized him for cutting a tree.
In an interview with Philstar.com during the recent History Con 2018 where he is a part of the reality TV show “Celebrity Car Wars,” Diego explained that his controversial Instagram video actually shows him moving a tree to plant more trees.
“We’re moving the tree to plant more trees, nasa likod ng bahay namin ‘yun and kinlaro ko naman. The ignorance of not knowing the whole context of the story pero magju-judge ka agad. Sad to say, ilang beses na ko sinabihan tungkol dito eh. Being in the limelight, people see you all the time. Everything you do will always be judged pero sana naman alamin muna natin lahat,” Diego said.
The actor was saddened at how people on social media always look for negative things. “Hindi talaga mawawala yung mga mema eh,” he said.
“Pansin ko lang, example dun sa Instagram ko na hawak ko yung Vios Cup ko. You won’t see people, apart from my close friends, you won’t see ramdom people na magsabi ng ‘uy good job, Diegs. It’s sad to say na yung mentality natin hindi tayo magaling mag ‘good job pare,’ pero pagnakakita tayo ng mali, ang bilis natin magsabi ng ‘uy tignan mo nga ‘to, sinisira niya ‘yung puno,’” he added.
On his Instagram account, Diego recently posted a photo of him trying to cut a tree and captioned the photo: “Hardinero for the day, Antipolo get away.”
Netizens were quick to react on the Kapamilya actor’s photo, saying he should not cut the tree. Diego then replied: “Patay na sanga lang po ang pinuputol. Para umosbong ng bago.”
Another netizen commented: “Easy to kill a life of a tree. Not good for everyone to see.”
“Easy to comment. Not good when you dont know the context or reason… cant agree w you more. Thats why were taking advantage of the rain, pruning the tress for new foliage to grow. Not to mention were planting more trees,” Diego replied.
In the end, Diego’s mom, Teresa, also commented on the thread to clear speculations on the photos.
“Prunning lang and clean up. Taking advantage of the rain for new foliage. We have 9 Lansones, 12 guyabano, 7 avocados, about 30 langka and another 30 lychee trees to plant. Just 1 ipil-ipil had to go. Make room for more. We share your passion for trees. Thank you for your care,” the actress commented. — Video by EC Toledo IV
