Sabrina Carpenter live & acoustic
It is a fact. We will never run out of new aspirants for the job of star in music, films and television. I do not only mean the teen idols available for every new generation of girls to swoon over. I also mean those young girls, who turn up all the time, toted around by star-struck moms to audition after audition, all pretty and cute and hopeful they will become the next big star.
Preparing these pubescent females for stardom has now become an important part of show business. And there are some people, like those in the Disney empire, who always manage to do an admirable job with their charges. The names that easily come to mind are Hilary Duff, Jessica Simpson, Miley Cyrus and Selena Gomez. They were all Disney Princesses, early in their careers, recording hit songs and appearing in the movies and various TV series. Then they grew up and Disney moved on to the next batch of princesses.
One of these is the pretty and talented American singer and songwriter Sabrina Carpenter. Does she have what it takes to be a star long after her wholesome Disney channel days are over. We will find out soon when we get to watch Sabrina in person. MCA Music (Universal Music Philippines) and the Megaworld Lifestyle Malls are bringing Sabrina over for a series of promotional tours for her brand-new single Almost Love at the Megaworld Lifestyle Malls.
Only 19 years old, Sabrina already has a wealth of experience as a singer and actress. She has appeared in shows like Adventures In Babysitting, The Goodwin Games, Girl Meets World, Orange is the new Black, Phineas & Ferb and provided voices and songs for Sofia the First. She will next be seen in the feature films The Hate U Give and The Short History of the Long Road.
As a singer, Sabrina, who was actually discovered in the talent search, The Next Miley Cyrus Project, has released two albums, Eyes Wide Open and EVOLution. Her third, titled Singular, is set to come out this month. Among her hit singles are Hands, a collab effort with Mike Perry and The Vamps; Why and Alien where she shares the bill with Jonas Blue. Her latest single is Almost Love, which she co-wrote with Stargate.
And so do keep in mind the Sabrina Carpenter dates in Manila this month. Friday, Aug. 24, 7 p.m. at the Uptown Bonifacio Mall; Saturday, Aug. 25, 7 p.m. at the Eastwood Mall Open Park; and Sunday, Aug. 26, 6 p.m. at the Venice Grand Canal on McKinley. And all that Sabrina fans have to do to get access to the showcase event is to purchase a copy of Sabrina Carpenter’s Limited Edition Fanzine at the venue. That is all. No need for tickets.
