MANILA, Philippines — From 100-plus aspirants, only 21 made it to the list of official candidates of the maiden Miss Midori Clark pageant.
Dubbed as “beauties of the new generation,” they hail from various parts of Region III and Metro Manila, coming from different walks of life and are carving their own names in different endeavors.
Wearing two-piece swimsuits designed by Sony Boy Mindo, the official candidates were formally presented to members of media at Midori Hotel and Casino in Clark Freeport Zone, Angeles City, Pampanga on July 7, as follows: Maxine Manalus, Airish Joy Rivera, Marinel Tungol, Merie Joy Aboda, Mariah Nilo, Fina Jallene Gulapa, Erica Kyla Punsalan, Jasmine Omay, Ethel Abellanosa, Elaiza Dee Alzona, Emma Mary Tiglao, Katrina Mae Sese, Rosantonette Mendoza, Anie Uson, Christine Juliane Opiaza, Micah Anghela Songco, Marie Sherry Ann Tormes, Camille Eloise Eisma, Jamie Joy Imson, El Fel Sharae Banaybanay, Sherryn Mercado.
“We are looking for a Filipina who embodies the true beauty of the new generation. A millennial who possesses good looks and intelligence, oozes with confidence, and has a sincere intention to help others, especially the less fortunate,” said Timmy Diwa, marketing and PR head of Midori Clark Hotel and Casino. “All of the official candidates are truly beauties of the new generation. We are confident that whoever will win the crown will best represent Midori and BB International Leisure and Resort Development Corporation (BBI). I hope our candidates will value our help to expedite their dreams,” added Diwa.
Diwa was a former Viva Films young actor who did films in the ‘80s including Bagets, Bituing Walang Ningning and Gumapang Ka Sa Lusak, among others.
Voted Darling of the Press was candidate No. 12, Emma Mary Tiglao. She received P5,000 cash prize, sash and bouquet.
Miss Midori Clark 2018 will bring home P300,000 cash prize. The first and second runners-up will receive P200,000 and P100,000, respectively, while third and fourth runners-up will get P20,000 each. Winners will also receive sponsors’ gift packages.
Special awardees will also be given cash prizes ranging from P20,000 to P30,000. Non-winners will get consolation prizes of P5,000 each. On top of these, the winners and qualified candidates will also be offered employment opportunities by Midori and BBI after the pageant.
The search will culminate during the grand coronation night at the Fiesta Hall Ballroom of the Midori Clark Hotel and Casino on Aug. 5. Celebrities and government officials are expected to grace the affair.
In charge of over-all production is Jhune Salud and his team, swimwear by Mindo and crowns were designed by Manny Halasan.
