ABS-CBN on John Lloyd Cruz comeback: Fake news
MANILA, Philippines — ABS-CBN has broken its silence in response to news reports and blind items saying that actor John Lloyd Cruz asked the TV network to get him back and the station allegedly either denied or accepted him.
In a press statement released to Philstar.com on June 29, ABS-CBN Head for Integrated Corporate Communications Kane Errol Choa said: “There is no truth to reports that John Lloyd Cruz approached ABS-CBN to request that he return to work, and that the network turned him down.”
This is in reaction to reports that circulated online on June 29 that the actor is allegedly ready to return into the limelight. Some reports said John Lloyd begged for work from ABS-CBN and the network turned him down; while other reports claimed that the network welcomed him back with open arms and is actually cooking up something big for him.
According to one news report, John Lloyd has been signed to star in a big Star Cinema movie. Star Cinema allegedly offered the role to the actor because “nobody can give justice to the character except John Lloyd.”
But all these have been denied by ABS-CBN. This means that contrary to reports, there is no comeback project slated yet for John Lloyd.
According to Choa, “John Lloyd is still on an indefinite leave to attend to personal matters.”
Some news reports claim that these “personal matters” refer to John Lloyd’s girlfriend Ellen Adarna, who allegedly gave birth to the actor’s son in a private hospital in Cebu sometime in June 28 or June 29. There are also reports that claimed the actress gave birth last April in Singapore. None of these reports, however, have been confirmed.
The network, nonetheless, stressed that it never closed its doors to the actor.
“ABS-CBN values its strong relationship with John Lloyd built through the years. ABS-CBN’s doors are always open to John Lloyd, and he will always be a Kapamilya,” Choa assured.
