Tiya Dely (Magpayo) as ‘fashionista’

Long before the word ‘fashionista’ became popular, Tiya Dely (Magpayo), First Lady of Radio, was already one. Whether in formal or casual attires, Tiya Dely was well-dressed, a fashion plate.

…in long gown

All the years she was in showbiz (radio, TV, cinema), Tiya Dely had only one couturier, Eve de Jesus. What she wore in the ‘50s until her death 11 years ago fit her shapely and slim figure. She also had a sizeable collection of precious jewelry.

Tiya Dely died in the line of duty, in a manner of speaking. She had a stroke while on the booth of DZRH, as always dishing out motherly advice and playing Pilipino music and interviewing artists and cultural workers.

…in Musliminspired attire...

This columnist had the great pleasure and honor of guesting in her radio show many times.

Let’s look at some of Tiya Dely’s wardrobe in this pictorial. She was truly a ‘fashionista.’— RKC
