MANILA, Philippines — In time for the first anniversary of the Marawi siege, ABS-CBN has revealed the trailer of its film based on the event.
“Ang Misyon: A Marawi Siege Story” aims to commemorate the heroism of the Filipinos who fought for the freedom of Marawi.
Starring award-winning actor Martin Escudero, this socio-political, action-packed narrative drama film showcases the current events in Mindanao, specifically in the City of Marawi.
It revolves around the complicated world of the protagonist-antagonist Muslim registered nurse Sajid Tumawil (Escudero), who gets into the socio-political turmoil, instead of just being a staff nurse helping the ill and the sick in his hometown, only to be discovered by the military men that he belongs to the Extremist groups of Maute Islamiyah having a bipolar personality.
Escudero, a product of a television reality talent search, has been acclaimed for his portrayal in the indie film “Zombadings: Patayin Sa Shokot Si Remington,” wherein won 10th Gawad Tanglaw Best Actor and 9th EnPress Golden Screen Awards Best Actor for Comedy.
Its director, Ceasar Soriano, also stars in the film alongside Rez Cortez, Lou Veloso, Jordan Castillo, Tanya Gomez, Darius Razon, Cloyd Robinson, Mia Mendiola, Jack Falcis, Bong Russo, Chamberlaine Uy, Al Flores, John Michael Wagnon, Tim Sawyer, China Roces, and introducing Juan Miguel Sorian.
“Ang Misyon: A Marawi Siege Story” has been produced by GreatCzar Media Productions and distributed by ABS-CBN Films – CineScreen. It opens on May 30 in cinemas nationwide.
