Myx Music Awards big winner James Reid explains absence
MANILA, Philippines — Kapamilya actor James Reid emerged as the biggest winner at the recently concluded Myx Music Awards 2018 held at the Araneta Coliseum.
James bagged the Song of the Year, Male Artist of the Year, Music Video of the Year, and Artist of the Year, but he was unable to attend the event to collect his awards.
His on-and-off-screen partner Nadine Lustre also won the Music Video Appearance of the Year award for his music video for the song “The Life.”
In an Instagram story, Nadine wrote that she and James were sad because they could not make it to the event.
“So sad me and James couldn’t attend the #myxmusicawards this year. Seeing all the photos rn and it looks like a lot of fun? Good luck to all the nominees and congratulations to all the winner,” Nadine wrote.
In a Twitter post on Wednesday, a day after the awards, James explained why he was absent at the awards: “I’m regretting so hard that I wasn’t able to make it to the Myx Music Awards last night I’m still recovering and I need to be in top shape for my upcoming concerts.”

“Honestly, I didn’t write Palm Dreams to win trophies. I did it because I wanted to create music, which is something I believe i was meant for, and to redefine ‘mainstream’ music in the Philippines,” he said in another post.
He then thanked the awards and his fans for their support.
“Thank you @MYXphilippines and all who voted for believing in my talent and recognising all the hard work and dedication that went into my music and for supporting my creativity and vision!”
