WATCH: Tricia Centenera shares life with Gab Valenciano after divorce

MANILA, Philippines — “Yeah! We’re super fine,” exclaimed TV host Tricia Centenera on how is she with ex-husband Gabriel “Gab” Valenciano.

“It’s not a matter of Gab and I not being friends, but it’s a matter when all the pieces will be brought back together,” she said in an interview with Philstar.com following an Avon Intimate Apparel fashion show.

“We’re not getting back together as husband and wife because we’re divorced and that’s done. But we’re bring the pieces back together for being friends and being okay and seeing each other on our daily lives.”

After not wanting to talk about the divorce for the longest time, Tricia is now hosting a TV show where she can interview other women who have gone through a similar ordeal.

If you could be friends after divorce, why can’t you during marriage?

“It’s not a matter of Gab and I being not friends. Because he actually just broke up with his girlfriend and he rang me and he told me, and he just ran into me and said, ‘Oh my gosh. She is not a good human being…’ He was so angry and he said to me, ‘Even when you and I we’re at our lowest of lows, I didn’t dislike you this much. I didn’t want to use the word ‘hate’ because it’s a strong word,” Tricia explained.

“Because him and I, we didn’t break up because we weren’t friends. There’s just other things in a marriage, which is basically because we just married too soon. Too young.”

How could you become friends with your ex?

“Acceptance, forgiveness, and just knowing that he’s a good person,” Tricia advised.

“He’s a really good, good human being. We just made really bad choices,” she said of her ex.

“If I hold it against him, what kind of person am I? I’m not perfect. I make mistakes sometimes.”

After forgiving Gab, her heart is now “full of joy.”

She shared that she is now with a very loving non-showbiz boyfriend and they “absolutely adore” each other.

“He lets me become whoever I wanna be. He lets me shine the way I wanna shine. And he is my best friend,” she said of her new beau.  — Video by Kat Leandicho
