MANILA, Philippines — “Manila was so much fun tonight! Thank you!!!” 10-time Grammy winner John Legend said in an Instagram post following his Manila concert on March 21 at the Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.
The Manila stop was part of his ongoing “Darkness and Light World Tour,” which includes shows in Japan, South Korea, China, Taiwan and Malaysia. The tour concludes in Bangkok on March 23.
Legend opened his Manila concert by astounding audiences with his signature superb piano playing. Included in his tour repertoire are his hits like “Glory,” which won the Golden Globe and the Academy awards for Best Original Song; “Right by You (For Luna),” dedicated to his firstborn Luna Simone Stephens by wife Chrissy Teigen; and a cover of Meghan Trainor’s “Like I’m Gonna Lose You.”
For encore, he performs his international smash hit “All of Me,” which peaked at the Billboard Hot 100 for three weeks in the US, and reached the top 10 countdowns of many countries, including the Philippines.
“The best concert I’ve been to!” a netizen commented on Legend’s Instagram post on his Manila concert.
“We love your songs because they are so romantic and we get to see the couples dance to them. You rock John!” added another fan.
John had a concert in Manila in 2014, as part of his “All of Me” tour, which many reports described as a “date night for couples” like celebrity lovers Matteo Guidicelli and Sarah Geronimo.
