MANILA, Philippines — At 17 (turning 18 on April 8), upcoming singer Brian Gazmen (photo) has never been broken-hearted and yet his first single (gaining more listeners on Spotify, iTunes and YouTube) is titled Ayoko Nang Makarinig ng Love Song.

“Honestly,” Brian said, “all that I have experienced so far was puppy love. But I haven’t been seriously in love. I’m still too young for that.”

Graduating soon from Ateneo High School, Brian is one of the three children of Iriga City Mayor Madeleine Gazmen, born in Bicol but has been a Manila Boy since he was six years old.

“My favorite companion is my guitar,” revealed Brian who started acting in Trumpets plays when he was nine years old (Hairspray, etc.). “My most enjoyable moments are when I am strumming my guitar, thinking of new songs to write.”

As a singer-composer, Brian looks up to Gary Valenciano as role model.

“As a kid,” he recalled, “I would tag along with my mom to Gary’s concerts and that’s how I fell in love with Gary’s songs. I also like his being a good performer, a total Mr. Pure Energy.”

As an aspiring actor, Brian takes his hat off to John Lloyd Cruz.

“He can play any kind of role convincingly. I’m learning a lot just by watching his films. I hope to follow in his footsteps.”

His other dream is to join PBB (Pinoy Big Brother) from which some of his close showbiz friends have graduated, including Christian Morones with whom he watched Kisses Delavin’s recent Confidently Kisses concert at Kia Theater.

“She’s my crush,” said Brian as he and Christian applauded Kisses’ every song and dance number.
