Pia & Gerald: Present Perfect

Will the team-up of Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach and Mr. Macho Gerald Anderson set the screen on fire?

It’s perfect casting, no wonder the first team-up of Pia Wurtzbach and Gerald Anderson is titled My Perfect You.

Judging from the trailer, there’s chemistry between Miss Universe and Mr. Macho, but that’s as far as make-believe is concerned. In real-life, Pia is going steady with racer Marlon Stockinger and Gerald with Bea Alonzo.

As Pia “warned” in this Conversation, she didn’t want to give away much of the plot of My Perfect You, directed by Cathy Molina-Garcia, which is a follow-up to Pia’s post-Miss U movie, the 2017 MMFF top-grosser Gandarrapido: The Revenger Squad (starring Vice Ganda) that won Pia a PMPC Star Awards as New Movie Actress of the Year.

This much we can tell you (according to the trailer of the movie produced by Star Cinema):

Burn (Gerald) is rejected by his girlfriend when he proposes to her and it leads to the collapse of his career. He’s fired. Feeling hurt and lost, he retreats to Zambales where he meets Abi (Pia) who runs a camp. And then…

Check out My Perfect You which opens nationwide on Wednesday, March 14.

What do you find interesting about your roles?

Pia: Not to give away too much of the storyline but I find my role interesting because my character, Abi, is a ball of sunshine and she brings life to the story of My Perfect You.

Gerald: Burn is very challenging and very complex to portray. Maraming layers si Burn.

What is your idea/concept of a “perfect you”?

Pia: Someone who is patient and understanding. And somebody who knows how to make me smile no matter what the situation is. Not necessarily “perfect” in everyone’s eyes but perfect for me.

Gerald: Being the best version of yourself every day.

What is in Gerald that reminds you of Marlon?

Pia: They are both handsome.

How were you during the shoot? Did you have to “break the ice” before you became comfortable with each other?

Pia: Yes, we try to chat between takes and during breaks so we can do our scenes together easier. It would be awkward to do a scene with someone you hardly know.

Gerald: Yes, because I met her only once during the story conference for this movie then we went straight to the shoot. It wasn’t hard to break the ice because Pia is very down-to-earth and comfortable to be with.

How did you feel during your love scenes (if there are any)?

Pia: There are no love scenes in this movie.

Do you have to alert but not necessarily ask the permission of Marlon before doing a love scene?

Pia: We are aiming for a general patronage rating so that kids can also watch the movie.

What did you talk about on the set between takes?

Pia: Everything…his experiences in showbiz, my experience as Miss Universe, and about fitness and food.

Gerald: About life and about her journey as Miss Universe, about fitness, our goals and our dreams.

What part of each other’s body did you find most attractive/sexiest?

Pia: Gerald has very expressive eyes. I think that’s why he’s such an effective actor.

Gerald: Her eyes.

What would you tell Marlon about your experience doing the movie?

Pia: I’d share my experience being locked in location in Zambales, how there was barely any signal in the area (only Smart) and that a store was two hours away. I’d share about my experience working with direk Cathy and how much I have learned from her. To me, direk Cathy is the star of the movie. She’s amazing.

What did you discover about each other during the shoot?

Pia: That Gerald is a gentleman, he’s very caring to everyone around him and he takes his fitness very seriously.

Gerald: That Pia is very humble despite her success and she’s very human even if she’s one of the most beautiful women in the universe.

If you were not “committed,” would it be possible for you to fall for each other?

Pia: I don’t think it would be difficult for anyone to fall for Gerald as he is such a gentleman, he’s close to his family and he takes his work seriously. Those traits are admirable in a man.

Gerald: Pia has all the qualities of being a good girlfriend.
