Paramore reschedules Manila show due to health issues
MANILA, Philippines — Paramore has postponed its Manila concert slated Sunday, citing lead vocalist Hayley Williams’ “throat and upper respiratory infection.”
In a lengthy Facebook post Friday afternoon, Williams announced that the band had decided it would be better to cancel the concert in Jakarta, Indonesia scheduled tonight as well as the Manila show.
“Unfortunately, my throat hasn’t loosened up and the rest of my symptoms have only gotten worse,” Williams wrote.
She added: “Just to be transparent: the reason for also delaying the Manila show is to reduce the amount of travel we’d have to do within the next few days of the tour. We’ve been flying a LOT on this tour. Traveling by plane can make it hard to heal because of the dry, recycled air, the extreme altitude and the fact that planes are basically just flying petri dishes.”
Williams apologized to the fans who have been looking forward to these shows. “I know nothing I say will alleviate that letdown.”
She, however, assured Filipino fans that the band will return to Manila on August 23.
“We were so ready to get back to Manila because every show we’ve played for our Filipino friends has been a wild time. We’re coming back for you so please hang on ‘til August,” Williams said.
The band, which debuted in 2005, released its fifth studio album “After Laughter” last year.
