MANILA, Philippines — Despite his tight schedule for a technical rehearsal as host of the Glamour Night of the Face of 2018 that day, actor-singer Lance Raymundo, who met a serious accident when his trainer dropped an 80-pound barbell at the gym in March 2014, recently spent an early morning with 31 talented children of Special Education Unit of Saint Andrew’s School (SAS) in La Huerta, Parañaque City.
After a short opening prayer, SAS vice principal Lhord Balo gave the welcome remarks that focused on a Christmas message of hope and love. This was followed by an inspirational message from Lance, the main guest that morning, who later sang two songs to the joy of the “special” children and their parents.
“I was very thankful to God for the second life,” he said. “I readily accepted the incident that happened to me... I remember I told my trainer that I’ve already forgiven him and asked him to help me to go to the nearest hospital. Healing starts when you forgive someone who does you wrong.”
Also seen in the occasion was Danilo Aloysius Halili, a US-based Andrean alumni awardee who was once featured on ABS-CBN’s Pipol hosted by Ces Oreña-Drilon and who has been silently helping the poor community in San Dionisio, Parañaque, gave likewise a brief inspiring remark. He brought some chocolates to the students.
The highlight of the program was a performance from the “special” students who showcased their God-given talents.
Prior to that event, some SAS students brought cheer to the elderly and kids at Bahay Pag-asa and Bahay-Aruga, just a walking distance from the school.
