Philippines leads Miss Universe 2017 poll
MANILA, Philippines — The Philippines’ representative to Miss Universe 2017, Rachel Peters, is now leading in the pageant’s Facebook poll with over 209,000 votes as of posting.
It can be recalled that Miss Philippines Elizabeth Clenci also led the National Costume Facebook poll in Miss Grand International 2017. She went on to win as 2nd runner-up.
Likewise, recently, Miss Philippines Nelda Ibe led the online votes for Miss Globe 2017. She then won as first runner-up.
In the Miss Universe Facebook poll, Rachel is followed by Miss Thailand with over 155,000 likes; Brazil with 28,000; Colombia with 37,000; Indonesia with 24,000; Nicaragua with 18,000; and Germany with 14,000.
The 92 contestants arrived in Las Vegas on Wednesday and have started documenting their journey through videos, starting with a welcome video that includes Miss Philippines.
In the welcome video, Rachel, wearing a dress in Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach’s signature royal blue, said she wants to try the restaurant’s meatball pasta, which she thinks is the diner’s signature dish. She also mentioned that the restaurant will open a branch in the Philippines.
“So to all Filipinos out there, I’m sure there are a lot of you, watch out!” she said.
She then shared cakes with other contestants Miss Georgia, Austria and Belgium.
“We’re always on our toes,” she said when asked what she is expecting from the pageant.
For eating desserts, though, she thinks “Philippines will now hate me if I’ll not win Best in Swimsuit!”
