Iza Calzado now engaged to Fil-Brit business partner

MANILA, Philippines — Finally, Iza Calzado can call Ben Wintle her fiancé.
Early this year, actress Iza Calzado asked Philstar.com to correct the word “fiancé” in an article, and instead, refer to the guy she has been dating for five years, Ben Wintle, as simply “boyfriend” since she felt calling him her “fiancé” could be too assuming.
But starting last Sunday, Iza can now confidently call Ben as her fiancé as the Filipino-British businessman has already asked for her hand in marriage in front of their celebrity friends in Sonya’s Garden, Tagaytay.
In Instagram posts by fashion designer Rajo Laurel, Ben is shown down on one knee as he asked Iza to be his wife. Iza sheds tears as she jokingly check out the ring, even biting it to see if it was real, before saying “Yes!”
"Congratulations to my friends @missizacalzado & @benmwintle on their engagement! What a blessing to witness this special moment in your lives. So happy for you both!," Laurel said in a post.
Likewise, actress-TV host Karylle Tatlonghari-Yuzon, the couple’s friend and business partner, shared how she has bear witness how Ben has been there for Iza through ups and downs. This includes Ben asking Iza’s dad, the late director and choreographer Lito Calzado, for permission to date Iza, when Lito was already in the hospital.
"I first met @benmwintle and his payong in almon marina...then we watched the #blackeyedpeas later that night. Eventually, we became partners in his @bookyapp, traveled to KL, LA, shared stories about," Karylle said.
"I've watched him as a pole on the dance floor and i watched him gently stay at iza's side during the bad times. I made sure to get Tito Lito's approval which of course Ben Tumbling got at the hospital. Si @missizacalzado, you know how much we love each other naman na. Love u both and congratulations," Karylle added.
Celebrity stylist Kat Cruz, who also witnessed the engagement, shared on Instagram a close up of the diamond sparkler Ben gave Iza as engagement ring.
In a recent interview with Philstar.com contributor Maridol Ranoa-Bismark, Iza said that even after getting married, she would still continue acting.
“After all, Ben, her boyfriend, has always been supportive of her career ever since they started their relationship five years ago. He was with her in Osaka. He lets Iza watch teleseryes even if he cannot understand the dialogue,” Ranoa-Bismark wrote.
