Ex-Oasis vocalist Liam Gallagher leaves Manila concert fans hanging
MANILA, Philippines — Fans had mixed emotions after former Oasis front man Liam Gallagher’s one-hour Manila concert ended without him singing his ex-band famous songs, leaving concert goers asking for more but to no avail.
In the concert, Liam sang 17 songs, nine of them from his new album, eight were Oasis songs. But fans waited for the controversial front man to sing songs that made Oasis a household name in the 90s to early 2000s, and these include "Champagne Supernova," "Stand By Me," "Don’t Look Back in Anger," "Stop Crying Your Heart Out," "Go Let It Out," and "All Around The World," to name a few.
Though fans did not hear the songs they wanted Liam to sing, the rock star slayed every note and lyrics with his performance. He opened the concert strong with "F*ckin in the Bushes," "Rock N Roll Star" and "Morning Glory," songs from his band shared with brother Noel.
Though the crowd missed Noel's backup vocals, Liam filled this by delivering his trademark voice that makes him one of the best, if not the best, band vocalists ever.
The British icon, who has his trademark of playing his tambourine, also sang "Do You Know What I Mean?," "Be Here Now," "Live Forever" and "Slide Away," also from Oasis. He also sang new songs from his new album such as "Wall of Glass," "Bold," "Greedy Soul," "For What It’s Worth," "Eh La," "Chinatown," "I Get By," "You Better Run" and "Universal Gleam."
His last song made the crowd travel back in time with "Wonderwall" but clearly, he sang it incomplete and that made the crowd thought that Liam will get back on stage again but he did not.
Oasis was scheduled to perform in the Philippines back in 2002 but they cancelled the concert two days before the show because of a terrorist incident in Mindanao. Since then, Filipinos had been waiting for their arrival in the country until they disbanded in 2009 due to years of tension between the siblings.
