Rafael on what makes a woman attractive

MANILA, Philippines - Rafael Rosell considers himself “not the same as most guys” who prefer women with good looks more than their inner beauty.

“For me, kung sobrang ganda pero pangit ang ugali niya, I’m sorry but it doesn’t matter to me,” he told The STAR in an interview after the grand presscon of GMA 7’s remake of Impostora. Rafael and Kris Bernal will topbill the soon-to-air Kapuso Afternoon Prime offering that contains themes relating to how physical beauty can do good or damage to oneself and others.

“I think that the show will teach people how to look deeper na hindi lang sa surface ang beauty. It’s really deep within and true beauty is never on the surface.”

How would he know if one has a beautiful heart or not?

“It will come out through different challenges, different situations that we face in life. Basta for me… you can’t easily judge a person and we shouldn’t really judge anyone.”

Asked further if he has already found that girl, Rafael said, “I wouldn’t say that I’m looking but I think at the present moment with the people around me, I know that one of them, I’ll be with ‘til the end, siguro…”

Rafael did not share details about his love life but he admitted that he is going steady with a fashion designer for more than a year already.

Is marriage within sight?

“We will see about that basta no comment para di maudlot di ba? So, no comment na lang muna ako dun sa if she’s the one? Kung ito na ba yun?”

Meanwhile, during the presscon held recently at GMA’s Executive Lounge, Rafael was admittedly surprised when his leading lady Kris gamely answered that he is a good kisser when she was asked about their intimate scenes in the series.

“Syempre nagulat ako but more than anything, I think I was surprised by the question dahil alam mo yun, a kiss is so intimate; a scene like that is so intimate that if we will talk about it in front of many people parang magiging medyo awkward,” said Rafael when asked for his reaction.

He said further, “Yung experience ko, para sa akin na lang yun; yung interpretation ng mga tao sa experience kong yun, nasa kanila na yun. But I have nothing negative to say. It was a really great experience, very flattering; very honored that she trusted me more than anything. Na pinagkatiwalaan niya ako sa gagawin ko sa kanya sa mga eksena na yun. I’m so honored na hindi siya nag-doubt (or anything).”

Although it’s his first team-up with Kris in a soap, Rafael said he has already received lots of positive feedback from his and Kris’ supporters.

“Well, I’ve heard rumors and I think our chemistry is really good and we enjoy each other’s presence on the set. During mall shows or after taping, we were able to bond and (I think) it made her feel at ease.”

Would it make his non-showbiz girlfriend jealous?

“So far, all the obstacles that we’ve faced we were able to overcome them at nag-improve after. So para sa akin, the No. 1 thing (in relationship) talaga is trust and understanding. And I see an abundance of that in her.”
