MANILA, Philippines — The Filipino-American actor who stars as “Oliver” in hit US TV series, “How to Get Away with Murder” will once again portray the iconic martyr, Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino Jr. in a play.
Conrad Ricamora will play as Ninoy in a musical adaptation of “Here Lies Love” at Seattle Repertory Theatre. It will run from April 8 to June 18.
“Here lies love” is an album collaboration by David Byrne and Fat Boy Slim. It was first produced and had successful runs at New York Public Theater in 2013 to 2014
“It's the journey of Imelda Marcos from her rags to riches story, it follows her from her first beginnings in Tacloban and all the way up through her notorious power reign in the Philippines,” Ricamora said in a 2014 interview with Fox News.
Ricamora said that what’s unique about the play is that it involved the people in a disco-like musical.
“The highlight is the very end of the show when it's all about the people and their stories. Through all the politics of the Philippines, those who’s really affected is the people,” he teased about the play.
Imelda will be played by Jaygee Macapugay while former President Ferdinand Marcos Sr. will be portrayed by singer and actor Mark Bautista.
Last Monday, Ricamora and other casts of “Here Lies Love” participated in a Balikbayan concert for the Philippine Independence Day in Seattle.
